It's a snow-less Christmas here in Wisconsin this year- pretty sad. So in Christmas spirit I am posting a video of my "snow onyx" hybrid clownfish with her anemone. My wife got me a waterproof case for my iPhone so after testing it out to make sure it was no leak, this was one of the first videos I took!

2014-06-15: Tank moving 5- Clowns

Here is the part I took a gamble- mixing clownfish is always a hit or miss. Sometimes they will bond and pair off. Sometimes they will fight tip one (or both) drops. But with a larger tanks and a lot more hiding space, I thought it's worth the gamble
Here is a clown I raised for about two years, it was less than 2" when I got it. And I think it must have came from a poorly managed farm it was so malnourished it took a long long time to grow to current size. He also never adopted to hosting anemones

The once below was acquired as a juvi too from a frag swap actually just this winter. The fish quickly grew into good size and hosted anemone right away. This is my prized snow-onyx designer clown. I will leave a bit suspense for now and let you know how did the two turn out when I mix them.

I think the marking on this fish looks crazy! And one feature I really love this site is you get a video footage of the fish on top of the picture of WYSWYG- As far as I know, no one else does that!

2014-04-29 Deal of the Day- Snow Onyx Clown

I know many of you probably have heard of "designer clowns"
This guy name Kris, started an ambitious project to breed them in Madison WI.

I have personally visited his facility. Although the business is at its start-up stage, Kris has years of saltwater fish breeding and coral propagating experience. He began to breed them so much at home that one day it just hit him- why not take his passion to the next level and breed these amazing clowns so everyone else can also have them!
Kris would drive from breeder to breeders in the country and hand-pick the most beautiful babies to be his brood stock. He will then carefully design, pari, and mate them. Currently his facility houses over 30,000 fish and is shipping not only the continental U.S., but also worldwide to HongKong, Japan, etc.
I have personally observed the feed preparation and their food mix so I know they take great care of these fish and they are all grown with the best nutrition possible.
Lastly, almost all of his clownfish were handpicked from different sources and have not been breeding the second generation, you do not need to worry about the genetic defects from in-breeding like you would receive from many other aquaculture fish farms.
They may not be cheap, but his clowns comes with a hint of neon blue, would definitely capture the eyes of any guest you have over.
